Standard Pruning:

It is extremely important to continually maintain the trees in our communities. Pruning is one way to keep our trees healthy. Standard Pruning is recommended where aesthetic considerations are secondary to strucutral integrity and tree health concerns. Standard pruning consists of the removal of dead, dying, diseased, decaying, interfering, objectionable, obstructing and weak branches, as well as selective thinning to lessen wind resistance. The removal of such described branches includes those on the main trunks, as well as those inside the leaf area. Standard pruning by our crew, by climbing and/or using our fifty-five foot bucket truck, will enhance the overall look of your trees.

Crown Reduction Pruning:

Crown reduction Pruning consists of the reduction of tops, sides or individual limbs. The terms "cutting back" and "drop crotch pruning" are sometimes used interchangeably with the term crown reduction pruning. By contrast, the term "topping" is often used to refer to a generally unacceptable arboricultural practice.
Crown Reduction Pruning is to be undertaken for the following reasons:
1. In situations where branches interfere with utility lines.
2. When there has been significant crown dieback.
3. When it is necassary to achieve specific topiary training or dwarfing.
4. In cases where, due to storm damage or prior incorrect pruning, it is appropriate to prune for safety and aesthetic reasons.

Cabling and Bracing

Cabling and Bracing are processes that restore or improve the structural integrity of a tree that is worth preserving. Individual limbs or the entire tree may be cabled and braced. Fasteners are attached to the weakened limb and the main trunk. Using ropes or chains, tension is applied to the weakened limb. Heavy duty cables are then prepared and attached to each fastener to provide the correct amount of support for the weakened limb. While it sounds like a relatively simple process, it takes a great deal of technical expertise and experience to know how to go about it in a manner that protects the longevity of the living tree and the safety of those around it. Our personnel are fully trained and experienced in all aspects of cabling and bracing.

Planting trees is an easy and effective way to beautify your property, provide shade in summer, wind protection in winter, and enhance privacy, while also increasing real estate values. Trees growing in small parks and commons, along streets, and in the yards and gardens of neighborhoods provide a mosaic of green landscapes within a community. Trees also provide beauty, as they moderate the effects of heat, sound, air pollution, excess storm water runoff, and soil erosion. Trees also provide a living space for wildlife, and contribute to the economic vitality of communities. Our experienced personnel can plant trees or shrubs that you are interested in or assist you in choosing the right tree for your application.

Stump Grinding

Tree stumps are unsightly and can be difficult to remove or mow around on a lawn. Stumps can attract fungus and other wood rotting organisms which may affect other trees, as well as the integrity of your lawn. Stump Grinding is a simple and cost effective solution for removing those unwanted stumps in your yard. Our professional stump removal specialists, using our Vermeer stump grinder, can remove stumps efficiently and cleanly. We can grind the stumps to 24 inches below the surface if necessary, while just a few inches underground is usually sufficient for most applications.

Tree Removal

Getting large trees taken down safely and efficiently is a challenging task. Many tree removals require qualified Arborists because of their location near buildings or power lines. Some trees need to be removed because they are dying or dead and pose a hazard. We can help you decide if a tree needs to be removed. You have a few options when it comes to tree removal. One option is complete removal, where we take care of all of the cleanup with our wood chipping machine and remove all remnants of the tree. Another option is having us leave the wood from the removal for you to use for firewood or other uses. With this option we can chip your brush or not, depending on your budget. When the time comes for a tree of any size to be removed, we will work with you to get the results that you request.

Community Tree Inventories

A tree inventory is the foundation for building and implementing an urban forestry program. An inventory of the street and/or park trees in a community provides accurate information about publicly maintained trees, allows for more efficient management of the urban forest, and budgets dollars while managing liability. It is important for communities to become proactive in managing valuable resources. Any community with publicly owned trees will benefit from a tree inventory. Our trained and experienced staff will take all of the gathered information and present it clearly and concisely in a database for an accurate inventory.
